About Sarah

Licensed Massage Therapist and Public Health Practitioner

Specializing in CranioSacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release & Holistic Integrative Therapies

Hello! I’m Sarah

My own healing journey began in a couple of phases. As a child, I was sensitive and was always searching for ways to explore the deep mysteries of life. Without support, I developed coping patterns that came to a head later in life. As an adult, I suffered from chronic conditions that kept me feeling stuck physically and emotionally until I began to learn about energy.

When I began to understand that we are energetic beings, and we hold the energetic residue of our soul’s journey - the physical and emotional experience that shape us, I began to learn important tools that help me to unburden my heart and body and shed patterns that no longer serve me. These tools allowed me to open my life to new possibilities, guided by deeper truths within me.

My life started to shift in significant ways, I ended my career in public health in order to focus on work that fulfilled me and kept me in integrity with myself and with my fellow humans. I became a Licensed Massage Therapist and started taking all the classes I could. I quickly discovered that CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was a modality that most embodied all of the energy work I had been doing to heal myself. At my first CST class, I walked into the room and instantly felt this amazing feeling of being exactly where I was suppose to be, surrounded by people who felt similarly, and who were guided by similar motivations. I was hooked and have been committed to this work ever since.

The impact that CranioSacral Therapy has had on my life and my clients’ lives continues to fuel my desire to deepen my skills and expand my knowledge. I am blessed to be able to support others as they explore their Inner Wisdom, gather tools for their healing journey, and move away from pain and into peace. Suffice to say, I am immensely grateful for the beauty and wisdom of this magical work and I look forward to working with you as you explore the beauty and wisdom in your life.

My Approach & Values

At Body & Light, we ‘listen’ with reverence to the complexities occurring in the body and use multiple modalities support each client with a unique and therapeutic session.

Everyone is capable of healing. There is a vast knowledge of nature within our bodies. Nature can be beautiful, awe inspiring, brutal, painful, and transformational. The logic of the mind only tells a small part of what we experience. Deeper perspectives come from our felt experiences.

The body never lies.

The body is a whole unit, working together to support YOU. No part of the body and no system in the body works alone, and therefore does not heal alone. What we experience symptomatically only tells one piece of the story. The origin of our ailments often begin in surprising areas, but they affect all parts of our body, seen and unseen. When we approach our bodies with curiosity, we can surrender to its wisdom, allow whatever comes up to feel and move, and trust that you are supported in this process to help you grow.

At each session, you will feel relaxed, relieved from pain and discomfort, experience ease of movement and bodily functions, and - over time - discover improved emotional and mental clarity.

We all have access to our inner wisdom. What we feel, tells us things about ourselves that become the key to clarity and healing

FAQs

  • CranioSacral Therapy is a light touch bodywork approach wherein I will assess and support your CranioSacral System, which includes the tissues and fluids that surround your brain and spinal cord. The health and flow of this system is important to supporting the health, harmony, and proper function of all other systems and structures in the body. During a typical session, you will lie face up on the table and be fully clothed. My touch is so light, like touching a butterfly’s wings, which you may feel and/or it will facilitate an array of familiar or new sensations for you. I will work closely with and follow your body’s innate wisdom, rather than force or manipulate your body with a specific prescription in mind. Generally, this work is soothing to the nervous system and very relaxing. During the session, please feel free to adjust your body in any way that is comfortable and let me know if you experience any discomfort.

  • When we approach our touch with a delicate reverence, we can feel more deeply what is occurring in the CranioSacral System. This allows us to ‘listen’ to your tissues, bones, and fluids and discern what support they may need. With light touch, we are feeling more acutely where there is dis-ease or dis-harmony in the body. Also, because the CranioSacral system is a delicate system that moves delicately and with great subtlety, it affects the body delicately and, therefore, we must also work with the system delicately in order to affect positive change. Using greater force would only force your body to respond with the same force, potentially exacerbating your condition. Also, the work we do today will continue to integrate throughout your body, supporting shifts and adjustments that you may notice over the next few days or so.

This type of therapy can help you by releasing deep tension in the body at the tissue, cellular, and energetic levels, and everything in between. Releasing these tensions improves movement of fluids and tissues, allowing all systems to work together to enhance your body’s innate healing processes and boost your immune system, supporting your ability to better cope and move through life with less pain and more ease.

  • There are multiple factors that influence how many sessions may be needed to treat your specific problem/concern. Take note of how you feel after today’s session and over the next few days. If you feel that your problem is persisting at basically the same level, then it is best to consider a few sessions close together to facilitate more significant progress. Once you experience more considerable relief, we can discuss a plan to manage your progress over time, if needed. That may mean once or twice a month, or perhaps quarterly, as needed. Of course, I encourage you to feel into your body and ask if you are in need of support. Often, once a problem is addressed, you will only feel need for support from time to time.
