What is Holistic Integrative Therapy?

We are Energy.

Some of which we can see and most of which we can feel.

Everything about us has a vibration, and every vibration is different, allowing the unique function of our complex bodies. Our ability to thrive with ease depends on the health of these vibrations. We have the ability to feel these vibrational energies and work with them, thereby supporting our body’s innate natural healing.

How do we heal?

Stop. Take a deep breath. Feel your body move with your breath and begin to tune into the subtle sensations of where you are, right in this moment.

Together, we will explore your body’s Inner Wisdom, and allow it to take the lead, guiding us to exactly where and what type of support it needs.

One or more of the following modalities can be used, together, to address any needs that your body requests: CranioSacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, Myofascial Release, Cupping, Body Mobilization, Meridian Unwinding, Reiki.

So, what are we helping to heal?

Your Central Nervous System is the first to develop in the womb and the last to turn off when we pass. It is the core of you, through which all information and signals and movement begins, continues, and ends. Your CerebroSpinal fluid surrounding your brain and spinal cord transports minerals and hormones throughout the body and moves waste out of the brain.

By using light touch, we can assess the movement health of your nervous system and how the rest of your body (tissues, bones, membranes, organs, muscles, etc) is working with it. By facilitating improved movement in your nervous system, we encourage harmony and healing throughout the entire body.

A gentle approach is best for long-term results.

When we try to force anything, the thing we are forcing will respond with the same amount of force. That is true for our bodies, so when we push and pull, we are often traumatizing our bodies with movement that does not serve the healing process and keeps us stuck in the same pattern. Many times, we inadvertently create conflict in our body, over and over by trying to force our will. We begin to get in our own way of healing.

Alternatively, a gentle touch allows us to feel what is actually happening in the body, and feel the movements and vibrations of tissues, bones, organs, membranes and muscles. When we can actually feel our body, we give it a chance to do what it inherently knows how to do: THRIVE.

We take the guess work out of your healing journey.

Healing Modalities

  • CranioSacral Therapy

A light-touch, whole-body treatment technique developed by John E. Upledger, DO, OMM; works with the body’s craniosacral system to support and nourish the central nervous system — improving overall health and well-being. This modality works with the natural and unique rhythms of the different body systems to pinpoint and address problem sources, helping to alleviate the aches, pains and strains of life, and improving coping mechanisms to allow for better management of stress. This holistic approach improves the body’s ability to self-care; producing profound, positive changes.

  • SomatoEmotional Release

SomatoEmotional Release™ (SER) is a therapeutic process that uses and expands on the principles of CranioSacral Therapy to help a person rid their body of the residual effects of past injuries and negative experiences.

SER facilitates a gentle process for releasing tissue memory, thereby helping the person to decrease the adverse effects of past traumas. There is vast research to show that a change in physical health is accompanied by a change in mental health, and it is equally documented that the reverse is apparent. SER is a holistic mind-body somatic approach that may also assist a person in gaining insight as to how that held trauma is influencing their physical and emotional health. SER can support the person transition from dysfunction and unresolved issues towards wellness and optimal function.

  • Myofascial Release

A hands-on soft tissue technique that facilitates stretch within restricted fascia that connects to and across muscles (like a web) throughout the body. A sustained pressure is applied into the tissue barrier; after 90 to 120 seconds the tissue will undergo histological length changes allowing a physical and somatic release to be felt. This type of modality can induce an ‘unwinding’ effect, impacting the emotional and physical body and resulting in long-term physiological and structural changes.

  • Cupping (Static & Dynamic)

Rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, cupping provides a vacuum mechanism akin to a form of deep-tissue massage. It is considered to help with pain, poor blood flow, inflammation, and other issues by stimulating tissue deep within the body. Use of silicone cups help to lift fascia and provide a unique type of relief accompanied by massage, stretching, and movement. Cupping is an effective alternative to deep tissue compression.

  • Meridian Unwinding

Through blending the ancient wisdom of Classic Asian Medicine and CranioSacral Therapy, we explore the CranioSacral rhythm in the body and its relationship to the elements, meridians, emotions, chakras, temperature, taste, and sound. This modality works with your Qi, bones, marrow, tendons, organs and blood and helps to transform neurotransmitters, increase energy flow, and support the body’s process for self-healing.

  • Body Mobilization

Gentle, non-invasive, active, passive, or "dynamic" stretches and rhythmical movements that "massage" your muscles and joints with movement are designed to reduce pain, decrease stress, and improve range-of-motion. This modality can include Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), a more advanced form of flexibility training, which involves both the stretching and contracting of the muscle group being targeted, increasing the length of the muscle and increasing neuromuscular efficiency. These approaches can be helpful in addressing discomfort due to a wide range of physiological challenges from hypertonicity in muscles from repetitive movements or weakness.

  • Aromatherapy

Smell receptors in the nose send messages through the nervous system to the limbic system — the part of the brain that controls emotions. The natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant can enhance psychological and physical well-being by stimulating brain function. A memory, a feeling, an energy that is difficult to describe can arise, allowing us to welcome the journey of our lives - past and present. Combined with other modalities, aromatherapy can aid in the relief of a variety of issues - from upset stomach, to respiratory distress, to anxiety and worry (which manifest via tense muscles throughout the body).
